We—Deborah Douglas and Thomas Fisher—are the stewards of Denney Ranch 2, a 96-acre wildlife-managed area at the edge of the Texas Hill Country. We live on the ranch, along with our dogs and chickens. We hope to cross paths with you at some point during your visit.

A visitor parking lot is just inside the front gate; however, if you prefer, you can drive—slowly, please—a short distance to the main building and park near the clothesline.

The Visitor Table is next to the main building. It has a sign-in sheet, trail maps, and a wooden cigar box that holds a little cash (for making change). We ask that everyone add $5 to the cigar box; however, we aren’t mean about this.

A nice, clean restroom is just inside the garage. Entry is on the south side of the main building—the side with the big porch, facing away from the road.

CuckooDenney Ranch 2 has four miles of vehicle-wide, well-maintained, relatively flat trails which pass along the banks of seasonal Allen Creek and through grassy fields, live oak mottes, and stands of native trees.

We have developed several feeding and watering stations for birds and other wildlife. Nearby benches allow you to rest while you watch and listen to birds. Color-coded wooden stakes are strategically placed beside the paths so that, with the help of the map, you will always know exactly where you are.

We maintain a weather station so that you can check on current weather conditions at Denney Ranch 2 before heading our way.

Other attractions include a rainwater collection system, an organic vegetable garden, and Black Australorp chickens. Because our chickens are free-range, we ask that you leave your pets at home.

Sometimes we host small groups with a special nature interest (like fossils or native plants) or organize special events (like a little birthday party for our chickens). We try to post these plans well in advance on the UPDATES page.

Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or special needs. We look forward to hearing from you.
